Delegation led by the Director for Cultural Affairs of Iran’s Plan and Budget Organization Pays a Visit to IPRCC

On August 20, 2026, Ms. Jiao Dian, Deputy Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), met in Beijing with a delegation led by Mr. Mehdi Rajaee-Nia, Director for Cultural Affairs of the Plan and Budget Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Deputy Director General Jiao Dian extended a warm welcome to Director Mehdi Rajaee-Nia and his delegation, and expressed gratitude for Iran’s active support for and accession to the Global Partnership for Poverty Reduction and Development (GPPAD). She briefed the delegation on IPRCC’s work covering international poverty reduction research, international exchanges, capacity building and demonstration projects. At the request of the Iranian side, she outlined China’s major achievements and experience in poverty alleviation, and responded to questions raised by the delegation concerning poverty thresholds, household registration for poverty alleviation purposes, and poverty exit mechanisms.

Mr. Mehdi Rajaee-Nia thanked the Chinese side for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements. He noted that the main purpose of the delegation’s visit was to draw on China’s poverty alleviation experience, foster institutional cooperation between relevant Iranian agencies and IPRCC, and jointly advance international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction.

Four representatives respectively from the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, Barakat Foundation, Alavi Foundation and Hawza presented their institutions’ poverty reduction related work in Iran.

Representatives from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in China, together with staff from the Research Division, International Cooperation Division and Foreign Affairs Division of IPRCC, attended the meeting.
