Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Rural Development for Uzbekistan Held in China

From June 9 to 17, 2026, the Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Rural Development for Uzbekistan, organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held in Beijing and Shaanxi Province. The 9-day seminar brought together 17 officials from Uzbekistan government agencies, including the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction. Mr. Mamatkulov Nurulla Yashinovich, Director of the Poverty Reduction and Employment Department of Syrdarya Region, spoke on behalf of the participants at the opening ceremony. Mr. Akhmedov Lazizbek Nematovich, official of the Syrdarya regional department of the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan, spoke on behalf of the trainees at the closing ceremony.

Centered on the theme of “Poverty Reduction and Rural Development,” the seminar featured a combination of lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing, followed by field visits to Yan’An City, Shaanxi Province, where participants visited projects related to poverty alleviation, industrial development, the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, as well as rural construction and governance.

The participants expressed that the seminar had been an extraordinarily meaningful experience. They not only gained a wealth of practical knowledge and governance expertise in poverty reduction that could be adapted to their country’s specific context, but also developed a genuine understanding of the governance philosophy that the fruits of development should be shared by all. In his remarks, Mr. Akhmedov Lazizbek Nematovichh stated: “We will apply the knowledge and practical experience gained here in our future work. We are confident that the advanced experience we have learned will further deepen the friendly cooperation between our two countries and contribute to poverty reduction and development in Uzbekistan.”
