Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Modernization for Comoros Held in China

From June 2 to 15, 2026, the Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Modernization for Comoros, organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held in Beijing and Guizhou Province. The 14-day seminar brought together 33 officials from Comorian government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Justice. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of the IPRCC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Mr. Abderemane Boina Mohamed, Director of the Ministry of Interior of Comoros, spoke on behalf of the participants at both the opening and closing ceremonies.

Centered on the theme of “Poverty Reduction and Modernization,” the seminar featured a combination of lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing, followed by field visits to Guizhou Province, where participants visited the projects related to industrial development, agricultural modernization, the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, as well as rural construction and governance.

The participants expressed that the seminar had been an extraordinarily meaningful experience. They not only gained a wealth of practical knowledge and governance expertise in poverty reduction that could be adapted to their country’s specific context, but also developed a genuine understanding of the people-centered governance philosophy underlying China’s development approach. In his remarks, Mr. Abderemane Boina Mohamed, the participant representative, stated: “China has always been Comoros's most reliable and enduring partner. With its wealth of practical experience in poverty reduction, its long-term vision for inclusive development, and its consistent willingness to share expertise, China offers an exemplary model that holds significant value for improving our public governance policies. We are returning home enriched with knowledge and inspired with renewed energy. More importantly, we carry with us a profound sense of mission: to translate the insights gained from this seminar into concrete actions that will enhance the well-being of the Comorian people and drive our nation's development forward.”
