From June 4 to 17, 2026, the Seminar on Capacity Building for Poverty Reduction in the Kyrgyz Republic, organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held in Beijing and Hubei Province. The 14-day seminar brought together 25 government officials from the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration, and other government institutions. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC, attended both the opening and closing ceremonies and delivered remarks. On behalf of all participants, Ms. Elnura Tentieva, Expert of the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Ms. Zarina Zholdoshbekova, Expert of the Secretariat of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic delivered speeches at the opening and closing ceremonies, respectively.

With a focus on capacity building for poverty reduction, the seminar combined thematic lectures and cultural activities in Beijing with field visits to Huangpi District of Wuhan City, Tongshan County and Jiayu County of Xianning City, in Hubei Province. Through these activities, participants gained comprehensive understandings of China’s remarkable achievements in poverty alleviation, rural development, industrial growth, and agricultural modernization. They also developed the deeper appreciation of China’s experiences in promoting locally tailored industries, strengthening grassroots governance, advancing coordinated urban-rural development, and improving people’s livelihoods.

Ms. Zarina Zholdoshbekova stated that China’s achievement in eliminating absolute poverty is highly inspiring and offers valuable experiences and important insights for developing countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic. She noted that the field visits in Hubei Province left a profound impression on the participants, particularly China’s accomplishments in ecological governance, industrial development, vocational and rural revitalization. Ms. Zholdoshbekova emphasized that China’s development experience, characterized by systematic planning, targeted measures, and sustained investment, provides valuable lessons worthy of study and reference. She expressed her belief that, upon returning home, participants would actively promote the adaptation and application of China’s poverty reduction experience in light of the Kyrgyz Republic’s national conditions, while strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China in the field of poverty reduction and development. These efforts, she noted, would contribute to the country’s socio-economic development and the improvement of people’s well-being. She also expressed the hope that the seminar would serve as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries within the framework of global poverty reduction and development cooperation, and to jointly explore development paths suited to their respective national circumstances.
