On January 29, 2026, Ms. Jiao Dian, Deputy Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) led a working group to the IFAD China Office and Regional SSTC Centre for Asia and the Pacific for working talks. Mr. Nii Quaye-Kumah, IFAD Country Director and Representative in the People's Republic of China and Head of Multi Country Office attended the exchange.

Mr. Nii Quaye-Kumah gave an overview of IFAD's core operations, and recounted the cooperation history between IFAD and IPRCC across training, research, international exchanges and South-South cooperation. He noted that in the new era, to support the global agricultural and rural sectors in addressing challenges such as climate change adaptation, smallholder market inclusion, and sustainable agricultural development, IFAD has defined its key priorities for its work in China. He also expressed the willingness to further enhance exchanges and collaboration with IPRCC and jointly deliver more fruitful cooperation initiatives in international poverty alleviation and rural development.
Ms. Jiao Dian pointed out that China has amassed extensive practical experience in poverty alleviation, regularized assistance, green agriculture, and digital technology-empowered rural development, which could offer valuable insights for countries of the Global South. She emphasized that deepening cooperation with IFAD will effectively facilitate the global dissemination of these experiences. In the next phase, IPRCC is willing to strengthen cooperation with IFAD in areas including South-South cooperation.
Relevant staff from the Research Department and Cooperation Department of IPRCC participated in the visit.
