From January 5 to 11, 2026, a delegation from the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development of Myanmar visited China to study the country’s poverty reduction experience and policy practices for rural revitalization. As a key exchange activity under the Lancang-Mekong Poverty Reduction Cooperation Mechanism, the program was organized and coordinated by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC).

Comprising 12 officials from rural development departments at the central, state/region, and township levels of Myanmar, the delegation visited 8 villages in Deyang and Chengdu, Sichuan Province. They conducted on-site research to explore effective approaches to rural revitalization empowered by industrial development, collective economy development, and the integration of culture and tourism. Dr. Liu Junwen, Director General of IPRCC, attended the summary and exchange session and conducted discussions with the Myanmar side. Ms. Jiao Dian, Deputy Director General, participated in the launching meeting and took part in some of the field visits..
Ms. Nyo Nyo Win, Head of the delegation and Deputy Director General of the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development of Myanmar, spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of the visit. She stated that the delegation will carefully sort out the insights gained from this visit, adapt China’s experience to the realities of Myanmar’s agricultural and rural development, and apply them to Myanmar’s poverty reduction and rural revitalization endeavors, so as to promote the implementation of the outcomes of poverty reduction cooperation between the two countries.
As the leading coordinating body of China for Lancang-Mekong poverty reduction cooperation, IPRCC has actively played its role as a bridge and facilitator since the establishment of the Lancang-Mekong Joint Working Group on Poverty Reduction in 2016. It has proactively coordinated resources from all parties, continuously promoted the mutual learning of poverty reduction experience among Lancang-Mekong countries, and injected China’s poverty reduction strength into the building of a Lancang-Mekong Community with a Shared Future.
