On the morning of November 11, 2025, the Youth Theoretical Study Group of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) held a learning and exchange activity, focusing on in-depth study and discussion of the fifth volume of “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China” and the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Ms. Jiao Dian, member of IPRCC’s leadership team, Deputy Director-General, and the Youth Theoretical Study Mentor, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, young comrades shared their insights, closely linking to their practical work experiences. Some offered reflections on the key priorities of international poverty reduction research, grounded in the developmental shifts and evolving context from the 14th Five-Year Plan period to the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Some analyzed the elements of fine traditional Chinese culture embedded in China’s poverty reduction and foreign aid projects, based on their understanding of the concepts of “the people are the foundation of the state” and “governing with virtue”. Some shared perspectives on the community with a shared future for mankind, drawing on hands-on practices in international poverty reduction and foreign aid training programs. Others put forward prospects for coordinating the establishment of a regular mechanism to prevent reemergence of poverty and the risk of new poverty during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, drawing on working experiences as a resident working team member.
After carefully listening to the ideas and reflections, Deputy Director-General Jiao Dian put forward three expectations: First, adhere to the integration of learning, reflection and practice – study the original works and grasp the fundamental principles, delve into the essence of the spirit, and combine theory with practical work to continuously enhance political judgment, political understanding and political execution. Second, broaden international horizons and strengthen strategic thinking, so as to improve the ability to analyze issues and conduct work from an overall and systematic perspective. Third, foster a sound style of learning and work, uphold integrity in conduct, be pragmatic in undertakings, maintain an open-minded attitude, and pursue innovative approaches.
During the meeting, young comrades also offered opinions and suggestions concerning IPRCC’s youth-related work and the participation in the final of the English Speech Contest organized by MARA’s Staff English Club.
