From September 16 to 29, 2025, the Seminar on Rural Infrastructure Construction and Poverty Reduction for Officials from Developing Countries, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China, was successfully held in Beijing. A total of 27 participants from 9 countries, including South Africa, Namibia, Uganda, Ethiopia, Iraq, Pakistan, Jordan, Timor-Leste, and Grenada, attended the seminar.
Deputy Director-General Jie Ping of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China attended the opening ceremony and closing ceremony, and delivered speeches on both occasions. Mr. JOHN NYEKO, Finance Director of Gulu University in Uganda, and Ms. IRENE JOVIA ATEK, Director of Mega Fm - Gulu, Ministry of Information and National Guidance of Uganda, delivered speeches on behalf of the participants at the opening ceremony and closing ceremony.
With the theme of "Rural Infrastructure Construction and Poverty Reduction", the seminar included thematic lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing. Afterwards, the participants traveled to Guilin City and Liuzhou City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to conduct field visits to projects related to rural infrastructure construction, industrial poverty alleviation, integration of culture and tourism, and social security.
Mr. SABER WASMAN HAMAD BAS, an associate professor at Salahaddin University in Iraq stated: "Before our visit, we may have had different perceptions of China, but now those perceptions have certainly changed. Now we finally understand why China is a leader in the world in terms of products and technology. This is the result of your hard work, perseverance, and scientific and efficient work. We hope China will continue to provide support and assistance to help us build such a beautiful and prosperous homeland as well."
