From September 11th to 24th 2025, the Seminar on Chinese Modernization and Global Shared Development for Developing Countries, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held in Beijing and Wuhu, Anhui Province. The seminar brought together 28 officials from 8 countries or organization: Cameroon, Kiribati, South Africa, African Union, Tanzania, The Gambia, Namibia, and Nigeria. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC, attended and delivered speeches at both the opening and closing ceremonies. Ms. Sarr Jainaba Teeda, Director of the “Future in Our Hands” Organization in The Gambia and Mr. Bayona Gibson George, Assistant to the Minister of Water of Tanzania, spoke on behalf of the participants during the opening and closing ceremonies, respectively.
Under the theme of “Chinese Modernization and Global Shared Development,” the seminar featured thematic lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing, followed by field visits to Wuhu in Anhui Province. Participants observed projects related to industrial development, low-altitude economy, technological innovation, integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, and rural construction and governance.
Mr. Bayona Gibson George, one of the participant representatives remarked, “This seminar has provided us with a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, while deepening our understanding of China’s development experience and the concept of shared progress. In particular, during the field visits, we witnessed firsthand the remarkable achievements of local governments in implementing targeted measures and strengthening rural revitalization policies, which gave me a deeper appreciation of the unique value of China’s experience.”
The participants expressed sincere gratitude for the thoughtful planning and meticulous arrangements of this seminar and spoke highly of China’s remarkable achievements in poverty reduction and rural development. Many participants stated that their learning experience in China not only broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of development pathways but also offered important insights for poverty reduction and development in their own countries. The participants stated that they would integrate what they had learned into practice and actively promote international cooperation on poverty reduction.
