From July 7th to 27th, 2025, the Seminar on Learning China's Poverty Reduction Experience for Mauritania, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held in Beijing and Henan Province. This seminar lasted for 21 days and was attended by 25 government officials from 11 departments including the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture of Mauritania. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC, attended the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony and delivered speeches. Mr. SAKI MOHAMED, Director of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mauritania, delivered speeches on behalf of the participants at the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony.

With the theme of "China's Poverty Reduction Experience", the seminar featured thematic lectures and cultural exchange in Beijing, followed by field visits to Zhengzhou City and Xinxiang City, Henan Province. Participants observed projects related to industrial poverty alleviation, poverty alleviation through employment, integration of culture and tourism and rural governance.

When the participants visited the Zhengzhou Disabled Persons' Rehabilitation and Employment Service Center, they learned about the story of the director of the Jinshi Art Gallery leading 11 disabled trainees to start their own businesses and find employment. They were deeply moved by the strong will of the disabled people to be self-reliant and strive for success. A carefully made rubbing painting of pine trees and cranes symbolizing longevity conveyed the best wishes for the eternal friendship between China and Mauritius.

During the holding of the seminar, the participants all expressed that through this visit to China for study and investigation, they had gained a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the essence and connotation of the successful formulation and effective implementation of China's poverty reduction strategy and plan. They benefited a lot and were fully enriched. This will be helpful for Mauritania to formulate and implement poverty reduction plans and policies that are in line with its national conditions and effective.
