Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Rural Development for Venezuela held in China

From June 5 to 16, 2025, the seminar on Poverty Reduction and Rural Development for Venezuela, organized by International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held in Beijing and Guangdong Province. The 12-day seminar was attended by 20 officials from Ministry of Agriculture and Land, Ministry of Communes and Socialist Movements, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela. Relevant officials in charge from the International Poverty Reduction Center in China and the Embassy of Venezuela in China attended the opening ceremony of the Seminar. Mr. Tovar Johan, Director of the Commune Union of the Ministry of Communes and Socialist Movements of Venezuela, delivered a speech on behalf of all the participants at the opening ceremony. Mr. Galindo Christian, Director General of the Engineering Administration of the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Diaz Leonelis, Director of the Agrarian Land Administration of Coyotes, Ministry of Communes and Socialist Movements, and Mr. Matheus Lorenzo, Director General of the State-level Agrarian Land Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, delivered speeches at the closing ceremony.

Under the theme of “Poverty Reduction and Rural Development”, in addition to attending thematic lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing, participants of the seminar also went on field visits to Xiong’an New Area, Guangzhou City and Foshan City of Guangdong Province to experience first-hand the great achievements made in poverty reduction and rural development in China.

Mr. Galindo Christian, representative of the participants, said in the closing ceremony, that we have gained a deep understanding of how China has lifted hundreds of millions of people out of extreme poverty, and this achievement is recognized worldwide. China's efforts in poverty reduction inspire people to pursue a better life and to become rich through self-reliance and innovation. The information we gained from our field-visits in the countrysides has important lessons for us, which can help us overcome the challenges posed by poverty and promote the development of rural society.

The participants expressed their sincere gratitude for the careful planning and meticulous preparation of this seminar, and highly affirmed China's achievements in poverty reduction and rural development, unanimously agreeing that China's successful experience in poverty reduction provides useful lessons and references for Venezuela.
