On December 18, 2024, the "2024 Participants’ Homecoming Day" hosted by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China was successfully held online. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC delivered a video speech. 51 participants from Asia, Africa, and Latin America participated in the activity, and Mr. Sanjeewa, Director General of Ministry of Public Security of Sri Lanka, delivered a speech on behalf of the present participants.
As the first annual poverty reduction training follow-up communication activity set up by our center this year, Participants’ Homecoming Day aims to further deepen the training results. It attracts the participants from nearly 20 countries including Ethiopia, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Pakistan, Uganda, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Laos, Peru, Cuba, Colombia, Suriname, Grenada, etc., to actively confirm to attend this activity.
The activity first reviewed our center's seminars and follow-up work in 2024; Presenters from Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria successively shared their own poverty reduction cases, while participants from Uganda, Cuba, and Colombia also submitted their own poverty reduction case reports, introducing their specific practices after learning from China's experience in poverty reduction; Afterwards, electronic honorable certificates were awarded to the 15 winners of the Best Articles on China in My Eyes.
At the Participants’ Homecoming Day, the participants responded enthusiastically and expressed their sincere gratitude to the Chinese government. They said that the Participants’ Homecoming Day organized by IPRCC is of great significance for participants to reunite and exchange and share experiences of using Chinese experience to promote poverty reduction and sustainable development in their own countries after the training. The activity fully utilized the role of IPRCC as an international poverty reduction exchange platform, and they hope to hold such activities frequently in the future to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation.
