Li Xin, Deputy Director General Attended the Seminar on Rural Development under the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative Upon Invitation

On December 2, 2024, the Permanent Representation of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Italy jointly organized a seminar on rural development under the Group of Friends of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Mr. Zhang Lubiao, H.E. Ambassador of China to FAO, Mr. Jia Guide, H.E. Ambassador of China to Italy, Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director General of FAO, and representatives of Russia, Indonesia and other countries attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The seminar also conducted thematic panel discussions on sustainable agricultural development, rural poverty reduction and financing and cooperation through GDI. Ms. Li Xin, Deputy Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), attended the seminar upon invitation and made a presentation in the panel discussion on poverty reduction.

Ms. Li Xin, systematically introduced China's rural poverty alleviation policies, achievements and experience. She also shared IPRCC’s efforts in promoting international exchanges and cooperation on poverty alleviation and development through GDI, which was warmly received by the participants.

The seminar was the first event officially organized by the Group of Friends of the GDI in Rome and was attended by representatives of all countries that had their own representations in Rome. Nearly 200 guests from countries and international organizations attended the seminar online and offline.

Personnel from foreign affairs division of IPRCC also attended the seminar.
