Latest list of best poverty reduction case studies announced

On Oct. 31, 2024, the 2024 International Seminar on Global Poverty Reduction Partnerships, as parallel forum of the 2024 Global Poverty Reduction and Development Forum, was held in Beijing. Award list with 105 cases from the fifth Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices Campaign was announced at this event.

The Fifth Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices Campaign was initiated by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), the China Internet Information Center (CIIC), the World Bank (WB), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in November 2023. It generated 1,012 entries from 37 countries and regions, including Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Jordan, Spain, Germany, Greece, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Burundi, the Kingdom of Tonga, Fiji and China. From these entries, the seven host institutions selected 105 best practices that are sustainable, operable, replicable, and based on practical scenarios. These selected ones provide valuable models and implementation strategies for those dedicated to poverty reduction efforts worldwide.

The Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices Campaign aims to inspire individuals and organizations dedicated to poverty reduction efforts worldwide to submit case studies that can serve as a carrier to promote and share successful poverty reduction practices of various countries. The organizers will publish case collections, produce visual videos and illustrations of selected cases, and recommend cases to participate in the selection of South-South cooperation cases organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation. The organizers will step up efforts to promote the selected cases and models and help rural poverty reduction and sustainable development in developing countries. Since its launch in 2018, the event has received positive responses and effective participation from many institutions and individuals around the world. More than 3,700 poverty reduction cases were collected during the five events, and 529 excellent cases were selected, involving 78 countries and regions, arousing positive responses at home and abroad.
