Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Development under the Global Development Initiative Closed in Beijing

On October 24, 2024, Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Development under the Global Development Initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was closed in Beijing. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech. Mr. MIGUEL ANGEL ULISES UGARELLI ZAMALLOA, Rural Development Specialist of Ministry of Social Integration and Development of Peru delivered a speech on behalf of all participants.

The seminar, themed "Poverty Reduction and Development under the Global Development Initiative," was held from October 11 to 24, 2024. A total of ten officials from departments of science and technology, economy, publicity, and social development of four countries namely Thailand, Nigeria, Peru, and Cameroon attended the seminar. In addition to participating in thematic lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing, the participants also went to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Yingde cities in Guangdong Province for field visits, including the visits to national urban-rural integration development pilot areas,  the cultural and tourism industry, e-commerce and targeted poverty reduction. Participants gained a vivid experience of China's poverty reduction and development.

At the closing ceremony, the participants expressed their sincere gratitude for the meticulous planning and thoughtful arrangements of the seminar, and highly praised China's achievements in poverty reduction and development. The participants expressed that they had greatly benefited from the seminar and would carefully summarize the outcomes. They expressed their intention to learn from China's successful experiences and practices, while exploring poverty reduction and development paths that are suitable for their own national conditions.
