The Meeting on the Strategic Moment of Reflection on the Government of China and UNICEF Country Programme (2026-2030) was held on September 10 in Beijing. At the invitation of Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), Li Xin, Deputy Director General of International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) attended and addressed IPRCC’s vision on future cooperation.
During the discussion, Li briefed the basic information about IPRCC and its mandate. She hopes the two sides further expand exchanges and cooperation in areas of poverty reduction and social development in rural areas, further deepen cooperation in the area of rural revitalization, and further explore possibilities of incorporating a child perspective into poverty reduction cooperation through South-South and Triangular Cooperation.
The discussion was co-hosted by MOFCOM and UNICEF. Zhao Chunfeng, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of MOFCOM delivered opening remarks. UNICEF Representative to China Amakobe Sande gave closing remarks. The meeting discussed UNICEF’s work priorities and potential challenges faced by children and adolescents in the next country programme, and identified the agency’s roadmap with next steps and milestones. More than 100 representatives from National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, National Health Commission and China Association for Science and Technology, as well as staff at all levels from UNICEF East Asia and the Pacific Regional Office and UNICEF Office for China attended the meeting.
