Seminar on Poverty Eradication and Rural Revitalization for Countries around the Indian Ocean Held in Beijing

On November 7, 2023, the Seminar on Poverty Eradication and Rural Revitalization for Countries around the Indian Ocean, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) of the People's Republic of China and organized by International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), kicked off in Beijing. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Mr. Mana Berhe Araya, the expert in social issues from the Ministry of Labor and Welfare of Eritrea and Mr. Wickramasinghe W.M.A.S., the director of the Ministry of Agriculture of Sri Lanka, made speeches on behalf of the participants.

The 14-day seminar involves a total of 20 government officials and experts from the ministries of agriculture, finance, health, labor and social welfare, and development planning in six countries, including Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Eritrea, Djibouti and Tanzania. In addition to participating in thematic lectures and cultural experience activities in Beijing, the participants will also go to Ningde City, Fujian Province for field visits.
