Seminar on Rural Construction and Governance for Developing Countries and Seminar on Rural Revitalization and National Modernization for Developing Countries Closed in Beijing

On November 9, 2023, the Seminar on Rural Construction and Governance for Developing Countries and Seminar on Rural Revitalization and National Modernization for Developing Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China(IPRCC), were closed in Beijing. Ms. Jie Ping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC, attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech. Mr. CHRIS SORONGON, Bacolod Satellite Office Satellite Lead of Philippines, and Mr. RICHARD ATUFIGWEGE KASESELA, Member of the National Executive Committee of Tanzania delivered speeches on behalf of the participants.

Mr. Liu Junwen, Director General of IPRCC, attended the country-specific presentations on 9 November , and listened to the presentations made by the participants from 12 countries on the poverty situation and policies in their respective countries, and made comments and a summary .

The two seminars were held in Beijing from October 31 to November 9, 2023, and were attended by 30 officials from 12 countries including Nigeria, South Sudan, Philippines, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Mauritius, Namibia, Lesotho, Tanzania, Egypt, Laos and Pakistan. The two seminars were divided into three parts: thematic lectures, country presentations, and field visits,which not only showcased China's policies and measures, implementation models, and experiences in poverty reduction and development, but also shared the policies and practices of poverty reduction of the participating countries.

During the seminar, the participants went to Jizhai County, Lu’an City, Anhui Province for field visit and gain an in-depth understanding of the practices and effectiveness of local provinces and regions in promoting poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in China.
