On October 27, 2023, the Seminar on Integrated Rural and Urban Development and Poverty Reduction for Developing Countries and Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Development under the Global Development Initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China, were closed in Beijing.
Mr. Liu Junwen, Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China, attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech. Ms. KEMIREMBE ROSE JULIUS LWOTA, Manyoni District Governor, Ministry of President's Office Regional Administration and Local Government of Tanzania, and Mr. NGABIRANO Roger, CNDD-FDD Cadres of the Youth League of the Ruling Party of Burundi, delivered speeches on behalf of the participants.
At the closing ceremony of the seminar, Director General Liu Junwen extensively listened to the opinions and suggestions of the participants, and introduced the issues related to poverty alleviation process, international communication of poverty alleviation and party building leading poverty alleviation, and finally awarded the completion certificate to the participants.
Seminar on Integrated Rural and Urban Development and Poverty Reduction for Developing Countries and Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Development under the Global Development Initiative were held in Beijing from October 18 to 27, 2023, and were attended by 35 officials of rural development, poverty reduction and social development from 12 countries including Nigeria, Tanzania, Philippines, Iraq, Lesotho, Sri Lanka, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Togo, Suriname, Uzbekistan and Pakistan. The two seminars were divided into three parts: thematic lectures, country presentations, and field visits. They not only showcased China's policies and measures, implementation models, and experiences in poverty reduction and development, but also shared the policies and practices of poverty reduction of the participating countries. During the training, the participants went to the National Poverty Alleviation Exchange Base in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, and Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei Province for field visits, gaining a deeper understanding of the practices and achievements of local provinces and regions in promoting poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in China.
