On the afternoon of September 18, 2023, IPRCC Director-General Mr. Liu Junwen and Deputy Director-General Ms. Li Xin met with the delegation of the Peking University Dongfang Scholarship Program. The delegation, composed of 50 scholars from 50 Asian and African countries, was led by Prof. Xia Qingjie, Professor of Economics at the School of Economics of Peking University, and Director of Center for Human & Economic Studies (CHEDS) at Peking University.
Mr. Liu Junwen warmly welcomed the delegation and delivered opening remarks. He said, China stood ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with developing countries on poverty reduction and development, and to join efforts on poverty reduction to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Ms. Li Xin introduced China’s policy and experience on poverty reduction, the alignment of the efforts to consolidate and expand the achievements in poverty alleviation with the efforts to promote rural revitalization, as well as international cooperation on poverty reduction. In the following Q&A session, Mr. Liu Junwen and Ms. Li Xin exchanged views with the scholars on issues of their concern, including targeted poverty alleviation, poverty alleviation assessment, and sustainable development.
