The ASEAN-China Village Leaders Exchange Programme was hosted by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and organized by the Rural Revitalization Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on June 27, 2023. As one of a series of events of the 17th ASEAN-China Forum on Social Development and Poverty Reduction, the programme was held both online and offline. More than 20 representatives from ASEAN member states, including the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Philippines, Republic of Singapore, Kingdom of Thailand, and Republic of Viet Nam, and Chinese government, grassroots, and enterprises in China have exchanged their experience of poverty alleviation. Nearly 100 people have participated in the programme.
H.E.Mr. Ekkaphab Phanthavong, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, Ms. LI Xin, Deputy Director General of International Poverty Reduction Center in China, Mr. LIU Kang, Chief Economist of Rural Revitalization Administration of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of P.R. China, Mr. Sugito, General Directorate of Department of Villages and Rural Development, Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Region and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia gave speech at the opening ceremony of the programme. Mr. LI Qingfa, Second-level Inspector of Foreign Capital Project Development Center, Rural Revitalization Administration of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of P.R. China chaired the opening ceremony and Mr. LIU Kang, Chief Economist of Rural Revitalization Administration of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of P.R. China made conclusion speech for the programme.
Under the theme of “Industrial Development Promotes Rural Revitalization”, in the first Plenary Session, Mr. ZHANG Chunxian, the First Secretary of Pingyang Village, Changle Town, Hepu County designated by the Office of Organizational Setup Committee of Beihai Committee of the Communist Party of China, Ms. May Ly, Programme Manager, Farmer and Nature Net Association, Cambodia, Ms.Sekar Dwi Cahyani from Sekapuk Village of Indonesia, Mr. Khamphouthone Susady, Head of Thadokkham Village, Xaythani District, Vientiane Capital of the Lao PDR, Mr. Syed Ibrahim Byros Khan, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Community Development, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia, Mr. Chaysit Suwanachote, Sheriff of Nikhomkhamsoi District, Mukdahan Province, Thailand Science Research and Innovation, and Mr. LIU Jianyun, Member of the board, General Manager of Shenzhen Tongyixin Industrial Co. Ltd have shared their experiences about rural industrial development.
Under the theme of “Ecological Protection and Poverty Reduction”, Mr. Nay Htet Shein, Director of Department of Rural Development, Myanmar, Mr. Meng Kui, First Secretary of Shuyin Village, Shuikou Town, Tongliang District, Chongqing, Mr. Lou Ganqiang, Secretary of the Party Branch and Leader of the Village Committee of Lianfeng Village, Huzhen Town, Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province, Mr. Dan Laserna, Alternate Sectoral Representative of the NAPC Formal Labor and Migrant Workers' Basic Sectoral Council from Phillippines, Mr. Tai Jia TAN, Assistant General Manager (Regional Services) / Social Service Office, Social Support Group / Service Delivery Division, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Republic of Singapore, Ms Sunisa Parnkaw, Village Leader of Ban Wat Ket Village, Tha-wung Sub-district, Lopburi Province, Thailand, Mr. Le Van Luan, Head of Ngoc Son Village, Ngoc Thien commune, Tan Yen District, Bac Giang Province, Vietnam and Mr. LIANG Anzhong, previous stationing first secretary in Jiaxi Village, Lingyun Couty of Baise City have shared their experience in this plenary session.
On 28, 29 of June, participants will have a field visiting in Beihai.
