On May 18th, the 2nd International Forum on Poverty Reduction was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Liu Junwen, Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech at the plenary meeting.
Liu introduced the practices and experience accumulated by China's targeted poverty alleviation and eradication strategy in solving poverty governance problems, and stated that IPRCC will continue to strengthen international poverty reduction exchanges and cooperation, actively implement global development initiatives, and contribute new strength to building a community with a shared future for people without poverty.
The Forum was also attended by heads of relevant international organizations and financial institutions, leaders and representatives of line ministries of poverty reduction and employment of various countries, as well as international poverty reduction experts.
In the morning of May 19th, Liu Junwen held a meeting with the First Deputy Minister H.E.Jamshid Abruev of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan. The two sides discussed on relevant matters regarding the upcoming Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Rural Development for Uzbekistan.
Liu Junwen and his delegation also had a field visit to the poverty and rural development of Uzbekistan. In the morning of May 17th, the delegation visited a job training center located in Toshken, named Monocenter. It was created to implement the employment initiative proposed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which plays an important role in poverty reduction by employment.
In the afternoon of May 19th, Director Liu Junwen and his delegation had a field visit to a Mahalla named Uchokli, located in Tashkent Region, visiting household, poverty reduction workshop, central school, and health center in the Mahalla accompanied by the Mayor Assistant of the Mahalla District.
