Seminar on Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Capacity Building in Poverty Reduction of NGOs for Government Officials from Developing Countries Held in Beijing

On July 26, 2022, the Seminar on Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Capacity Building in Poverty Reduction of NGOs for Government Officials from Developing Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and hosted by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was held online in Beijing. Dr. Zhang Huidong, Deputy Director General of IPRCC attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Mr. LUANGDUANG Soubinh, Head of Rural Development Sector of Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Savannakhet Province in Laos,and Mr. Kuchepa Chisomo, M&E Official of Mchinji District Council in Malawi made speeches on behalf of all participants.

Dr. Zhang Huidong, pointed out in his remarks that this seminar is designed to further deepen the cooperation between China and other developing countries in the development of SMEs, capacity building in poverty reduction of NGOs and poverty alleviation in rural areas, and share policy information, exchange experiences and practices. Jointly China and other developing countries will encourage SMEs and NGOs to get involved in poverty alleviation, set up a sound mechanism for development, constantly raise the capacity for poverty alleviation, and accelerate the process of poverty reduction in developing countries.

The seminar lasts 10 days and a total of 24 participants from 8 Country, including Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi and Zimbabwe attend the seminar.
