On July 13, 2022, the Seminar on Development and Poverty Reduction for Government Officials from Belt and Road Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and hosted by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was held in Beijing. Dr. Zhang Huidong, Deputy Director General of IPRCC attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Mr. Philiph Kipkoskei Sigei, Crops Officer from Ministry of Agriculture, Kenya and Dr. Justin Amase, Research Analyst from Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) , Nigeria made speeches on behalf of all the participants.
Dr. Zhang Huidong, Deputy Director General, pointed out in his remarks that the seminar will focus on China's economic and social development strategy and practice, China's policies and practices to promote the international cooperation of Belt and Road countries, and China’s rural development and poverty reduction policies and practices to conduct extensive and in-depth discussions, so that helps the participants fully understand China’s strategic policies, institutional mechanisms, outstanding achievements, characteristic practices, experiences and implications to promote poverty alleviation and build a new pattern of economic and social development, and to accelerate knowledge sharing and policy exchange between China and Belt and Road countries in the field of development and poverty reduction.
The seminar lasts 10 days and a total of 23 government officials and researchers from poverty reduction, agriculture, public management, planning and development, education, economy, finance, international cooperation and other relevant departments in Kenya, Nigeria, Cambodia, Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe attend the seminar.
