IPRCC Attends the Uzbekistan International Poverty Reduction Forum and Signs a Poverty Reduction Cooperation Program with Uzbekistan

On May 26th, 2022, the Uzbekistan International Poverty Reduction Forum was held in Bukhara. Mr. Liu Junwen, Director-General and Deputy Director-General Li Xin of International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) attended the Forum online.

During the Forum, the “Cooperation Program in the field of poverty reduction between the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan and International Poverty Reduction Center in China for 2022-2023” was signed. Mr. Liu Junwen, Director-General of IPRCC, and Mr. Mirzohid Ubaydullaev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed the Cooperation Program through video link as representatives of both parties. Mr. Farhod Arziev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to China attended the signing ceremony online.

In “Panel Session 5: Pooling Efforts and Developing Collaborative Approaches toward Poverty Reduction in the SCO Area”, Deputy Director-General Ms. Li Xin introduced China’s achievements in poverty reduction, the strategy for targeted poverty alleviation, as well as China’s poverty reduction cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) framework. Other SCO member states and observer states including Pakistan, Russia, India, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan,  and Belarus also sent delegates to the Forum to share their relevant poverty reduction approaches.
