Lankao County Exhibition Hall is located in the County Cultural Exchange Center, which was completed and opened to the public for free in October 2015. The Exhibition Hall is a two-story modern building with a construction area of 6000 square meters and is equipped with advanced facilities such as lighting and audio facilities, half-scene painting and scene restoration facilities. The first floor of the Exhibition Hall mainly tells the stories of Jiao Yulu’s life showing the Jiao Yulu Spirit and the current view of Lankao County. Since its opening, the first floor has received 72,000 visitor groups, which is around 3.9 million visitors. The second floor mainly displays Lankao County’s effort to implement President Xi Jinping’s strategic ideology on poverty reduction and development, carry forward Jiao Yulu Spirit, and win the victory in the targeted poverty reduction battle in the new historical era. From June 2017 to the end of 2019, the second floor received 8400 domestic and overseas delegations with 230,000 visitors.
The Exhibition Hall about Jiao Yulu’s stories on the first floor is divided into 4 sections.
The First section’s theme is about the “Child of China and Talent of the Nation”. It shows the stories of Jiao Yulu’s study, life and work before he came to Lankao. Particularly, during his 9-year stay at Luoyang Mining Machinery Factory as a worker, Jiao Yulu’s political awareness has been improved, his scientific management capability has been trained and his noble quality of selfless contribution has emerged.
The Second section’s theme is about the “Servant of the People and Role Model of Officials”. It mainly shows how Jiao Yulu guided the Lankao people to harness the “three hazards”, namely sandstorm, salinization and waterlogging, and the measures he took to change Lankao’s appearance. It fully reflects Comrade Jiao Yulu’s innovative spirit, people-centered contribution and the practical work style to pursue truth.
The Third section’s theme is about the “Eternal Spirit”. The section exhibits Jiao Yulu’s experience when he was sick in the hospital while worrying about Lankao’s disaster situation instead of his own health. He adhered to the original aspiration of bringing a happy life to the Lankao people, and kept in mind the mission to harness the “three hazards” and change the appreance of Lankao until the last moment of his life. The exhibition fully reflects Comrade Jiao Yulu’s divine spirit of “loving the people, working hard, pursuing the truth, facing up to difficulties and making selfless contributions”.
The Fourth section’s theme is about the “Great Changes and Composing a New Chapter”. The exhibition tells the precious spiritual treasure Jiao Yulu left to Lankao and China after he passed away, which influenced generations of Chinese people. Inspired by Jiao Yulu Spirit, the leaders of Lankao united all officials and people of Lankao with the inspiration of Jiao Yulu Spirit to forge ahead and change the appearance of Lankao.
The poverty reduction exhibition hall on the second floor is divided into five sections.
The First section’s theme is about “China’s Direction”. It shows the five stages of China’s poverty reduction and development, namely poverty reduction driven by institutional reform stage, organized implementation of poverty reduction and development stage, pertinent poverty reduction stage, in-depth promotion of poverty reduction, and targeted poverty reduction. This section reflects how President Xi Jinping’s important ideologies on poverty reduction were formed.
The Second section’s theme is about “Lankao’s Poverty”. In history, the Yellow River has burst its banks several times, which caused sandstorm, salinization and waterlogging. The exhibition provided a picture of the poverty in Lankao at that time.
The Third section’s theme is about the “Care for Lankao”. This section shows that Lankao, as the birthplace of Jiao Yulu Spirit, has received care from the state, the CPC, relevant ministries, provinces and municipalities and all sectors of the society as part of China’s fight against poverty.
The Fourth section’s theme is about “Lankao’s Measures”. This section is the essence of the poverty reduction exhibition hall, and can be divided into four parts. The First part shows that Lankao coordinates poverty reduction in terms of ideological understanding, organization and development practice. The county studied the strategic significance of carrying out targeted poverty reduction, practiced President Xi Jinping’s thinking on poverty reduction in scientific development and effective governance, and integrated poverty reduction into social and economic development pattern. The Second part shows “who to receive support, who to provide support, how to support and how to exit” with pictures and electronic files to show how Lankao implemented the “six precise” measures of targeted poverty reduction and the process from precise poverty identification to precise exit. The Third part displays how Lankao County carried forward the Jiao Yulu Spirit of facing up to difficulties including reform of the operation system of the poverty reduction fund and innovative financial poverty reduction measures. This part shows how Lankao broke the institutional barriers with the idea of reform, tackled realistic problems in poverty reduction with innovative measures, and effectively stimulated endogenous power of officials and villagers. The Fourth part shows some practices of Lankao County focusing on party development that supports poverty reduction from the aspect of giving full play to party leaderships and party cadres as strongholds and pioneers.
The Last section’s theme is about “Lankao’s Exploration on how to Connect Poverty Reduction with Rural Revitalization”. It shows Lankao’s practices and ideas on how to connect poverty reduction with rural revitalization from five perspectives, namely from developing featured industries to realizing industrial prosperity, from infrastructure improvement to building ecologically livable areas, from stimulating internal driving force to promoting rural civilization, from relying on the support to achieving effective governance, and from two assurances and three guarantees to making a well-off live.
