On the afternoon of February 2nd, 2021, the Joint Video Conference between LGOP and SCO Secretariat was successfully held in Beijing. Around 40 participants joined the webinar. Themed “Experience Sharing in Poverty Reduction and Fighting against COVID-19”, the conference was co-hosted by the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP), PRC and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Secretariat, organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC).

The 8 SCO member countries all had delegates to the conference. H.E. Mr. Vladimir Norov, Secretary-General of SCO, Ms. Su Guoxia, Director-General of Department of General Affairs, LGOP, PRC and Mr. Guo Yu, Councellor at Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, MOFA, PRC addressed the opening ceremony.

In the session of country experience-sharing, Dr. Tan Weiping, Deputy Director-General of IPRCC, Mr. Huang Junming, Deputy Director-General of the Poverty Alleviation and Development Office of Guizhou Province, and Prof. Li Xiaoyun, Lead Chair Professor at China Agricultural University shared China’s poverty alleviation experience, Guizhou’s practices and the significance of China’s experience to the world respectively. Delegates from India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia and Tajikistan briefed on their countries’ policies in poverty reduction.

Mr. Azymbakiev Muratbek, Senior Expert of the Department for Economic and Humanities Issues at SCO Secretariat and Ms. Li Xin, Deputy Director-General of IPRCC made the closing remarks.
