IPRCC 2021 Research Project Application Notice

The international Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) 2021 research projects are now calling for public bidding (For details, please visit our official website: www.iprcc.org.cn). Here is the content of the notice:

1. Basic Requirements:

a) The applicant should have long-term experience in poverty reduction and development related research with rich academic resource, strong research capability, the suitable condition for conducting this project and guaranteed reputation.

b) The person in charge of this project should have senior professional titles or Doctoral degree and should take part in project in person. The members of research team should have at least two different academic components among Economy, Management, Sociology, Politics and Journalism.

2. The Research Projects

a) The annual report of International Poverty Reduction (200,000 RMB)

The research focus: The annual report covers the implementation of main international poverty reduction agenda and the poverty reduction of main regions and countries, the research focuses include but not limit in: Firstly, a comprehensive and systematic review of the global poverty-stricken population and its change. Secondly, comprehensively review the situation of implementation of main international poverty reduction agenda. Thirdly, the poverty reduction of main regions and countries. Fourthly, the situation of China consolidates and expand the poverty reduction achievement. Fifthly, analyze the blueprint of global poverty reduction. The research results of all those areas should be based on the data analysis combined with policy measures and qualitative analysis.

b) The research on transcation of Low-income population to middle  income class———from the perspective of income mobility. (150.000 RMB)

The research focus: Since the implementation of accurate targeting poverty strategy, there has introduced a series of preferential and inclusive policies that benefited the less-developed regions and low-income population, and have affected the mobility of income to some extent. The research focuses include but not limit in: Firstly, systemically review and analyse the existing Macro policy. Secondly, summarise the international experiences and cases. Thirdly, by using quantitative research methods, establish the mathematic model for estimation and forecast, combine with household statistics to observe the mobility and change of income from the dimensions of region, province and county. Fourth, develop the case study related with the research topics. Fifthly, provide policy suggestions from the perspectives of rural development, income distribution, etc.

c) The study on the experience and enlightenment of rural revitalization of middle-income countries. (150,000)

The research focus: review the experience of rural revitalization of middle-income countries, The research focuses include but not limit in: Firstly, summarise the basic information of rural development (eg: rural population, employment, industrial structure, the sources of investment, urbanization rate), the character of different development stage, the relevant laws, working mechanism and institutions, sources of investment, main policy or projects, etc. Secondly, there should include no less than 8 countries in the research, and need to cover all regions worldwide. Thirdly, the research should provide development experience and policy enlightenment that can be applied in the context of China.

d) The comparative study on China’s poverty alleviation and international poverty reduction theories. (150,000 RMB)

The research focus: The poverty alleviation in China has adopted many original and unique measures. It is firstly need to figure out the difference and connection between China’s poverty alleviation and international poverty reduction theories, to formulate the narrative of China’s poverty reduction to international academia.  The research focuses include but not limit in: Firstly, systemically summarise the original and unique measures of China’s poverty reduction and its theoretical significance. Secondly, systemically summarise general measures of China’s poverty alleviation and its theoritical sigificance. Thirdly, comparatively analyse the China’s poverty alleviation and international poverty reduction theories, and provide related recommendations.  

e) The study on the impact of Covid-19 on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and its countermeasures. (100,000RMB)

3. The Schedule 

The applicant should submit an electrical version of the Application for IPRCC Applied Research Project Document (see attachment) through E-mail to IPRCC by 28th February 2021. IPRCC will organize the expert group to evaluate and select the application. The applicants who has been selected will receive the notification to submit the hard-copy of application materials and the official signature and stamps should be the same as the electrical version. Those who are not been selected will not be contacted separately.  

4. The Requirements of Outcomes and Progress

The research results include: Research report in Chinese and English (there should be no less than 60,000words in Chinese report), one working paper in Chinese and English (The Chinese version should be about 6,000words), and one policy recommendation report in Chinese (3,000 words).

The draft research result should be summited by 20th September 2021.

5. The Requirement of Budget

IPRCC will review the budget plan and decide the final version, then sign the contract with applicants and the budget will be allocated in three tranches.
