Seminar on Child Poverty Reduction after 2020 : jointly held by IPRCC and UNICEF China Office

IPRCC, together with UNICEF China Office, jointly held the Seminar on Child Poverty Reduction after 2020 on Dec 23rd , 2020. 

The Seminar took place both on-site in Beijing and online. Representatives from the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP), Ministry of Civil Affairs of the P.R.China, National Bureau of Statistics, Office of National Working Committee on Children and Women under State Council, IPRCC, China Development Research Foundation, attended the Seminar. Delegates from IFAD, UN Women and UNICEF were invited to the Seminar. Researchers from Oxford University, Columbia University, Beijing Normal University, Zhejiang University and Xiamen University shared their research progress in child poverty. Participants from NGOs joined the Seminar.

Mme. Ma Ying, Deputy Director General of the Department of Social Assistance in Poverty Alleviation, LGOP, and Dr. Douglas Noble, Deputy Representative of UNICEF China Office, delivered opening remarks. Ms. Christina Popivanova, Cheif of Social Policy Unit in UNICEF China Office, and Mr. Lu Liqun, Director of the Cooperation Division of the IPRCC, led the Seminar and delivered conclusion remarks. 

The Seminar shared the most recent research on child relative poverty reduction experience, measuring methods of child multidimensional poverty, child poverty in China, and discussed policy recommendations in addressing child poverty in China after 2020.

Relevant personnel from the Cooperation Division and the Research Division of the IPRCC attended the Seminar.
