Deputy Director General of ADB’s Strategy and Policy Department Visited LGOP and IPRCC

September 11, 2014 --- Liu Shuwen, Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Social Mobilization of LGOP, and He Xiaojun, Deputy Director General of IPRCC held talks with visiting Deputy Director General of Strategy and Policy Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Indu Bhushan and put forward some specific suggestions on how to improve “Guidelines on Cooperation between ADB and Upper-middle-income Countries (Draft Outline)” published in August.

Mr. Liu said although China has made great achievements in poverty reduction, it also faces major challenges. He hoped ADB would continue to help China improve poverty reduction strategies and policies, promote the sharing of poverty reduction experience between China and other Asian countries, and build a regional and even international platform by helping build up its capacity. Ms. He said in addition to offering continued technical support to China, ADB can also carry out loan projects.

Mr. Bhushan appreciated their suggestions, and would integrate it with the Guidelines and relevant policy suggestions on China’s planning for its 13th Five Year Plan.

Hamid Sharif, ADB’s country director for China, Safdar Parvez, Senior Planning and Policy Economist of the Strategy and Policy Department of ADB, Irene Bain, Social Sector Specialist of ADB China and He Xiaohua, Chief of International Division of the Department of International Cooperation and Social Mobilization of LGOP also attended the event.
