Brief on International Poverty Reduction Studies IV — Summary of Poverty Reduction and Development Forum

Abstract

This Summary reviews the speeches delivered by governmental officials, experts from research institutes and representatives from international organizations. It covers four parts: First, participants overviewed China's achievement in poverty reduction, strategies adopted and challenged remained in the last 30 years, and further proposed new strategic policies for promoting poverty reduction in a new era; Second, it examined the relationship between economic growth, distribution and poverty reduction, and made some suggestions for setting up the inclusive growth pattern; Third, speakers pointed their view about risk, vulnerability and poverty reduction, and suggested policies regarding how to meet the risk and improve the vulnerable groups' capacity to protest against risk; Finally, the summary analyzed the status quo of global poverty reduction and remaining challenges, and proposed suggestions for enhancing international cooperation. Meanwhile, it also shared valuable experiences with other countries in the area of poverty reduction.
