IPRCC Deputy Director General Led a Delegation to Attend the 9th Edition of the International Seminar on Social Policies for Development

30 March to 4 April, 2014 --- At the invitation of the Ministry of Social Development and Fight against Hunger (MDS) of Brazil, IPRCC Deputy Director General Ms. He Xiaojun led a delegation to attend the 9th Edition of the International Seminar on Social Policies for Development, which involved over 60 delegates from Mexico, Ghana, Pakistan and other 19 countries and such international organizations as the World Bank, UNICEF and International Poverty Reduction Center of Brazil. A total of 12 topics were systematically introduced and discussed, including Brazil’s social development policies, the Brazilian conditional cash transfer programme, the Brazilian Single Registry and the “Brazil without Extreme Poverty” plan. Brazil’s Minister of Social Development and Fight against Hunger Ms. Terezo Campello addressed the seminar. The delegation was invited to deliver a speech on China’s latest poverty reduction situation and policies, especially the “Dew and Rain Plan” (DRP). During the seminar, the delegation also investigated the “Brazilian Food Purchase Project”.

In addition, the delegation held walking talks with Ms. Claudia, Head of the International Department of MDS and other staff members. The two sides reviewed the basic situation of poverty reduction and exchange activities since the signing of the Work Plan for China-Brazil Cooperation and Exchanges on Poverty Reduction, and reached a consensus on their cooperation sometime in the future.
