Deputy Director General Huang Chengwei Made a Field Trip to Central China Normal University

13-15 March, 2013 --- A delegation led by IPRCC Deputy Director General Huang Chengwei made a field trip to the School of Sociology and Center for Chinese Rural Studies, Central China Normal University (CCNU).

The research group held talks with the poverty alleviation and social development research team headed by Dean of the School of Sociology Xiang Deping: listened to its building and utilization of “China’s Anti-poverty Database”, and discussed the cooperation issue based on the structure and information complementarity of databases of the two sides; listened to the process of “China Anti-poverty Annual Report” - one of the first batch of annual report cultivation programs on philosophy and social science development launched by the Ministry of Education and undertaken by the School of Sociology, probed into the possibility of report release jointly with IPRCC; and negotiated article contribution to the “Yearbook of China’s Poverty Alleviation and Development (2013)” by the school. A panel discussion was also held with Head of the Center for Chinese Rural Studies Xu Yong and over 20 teachers and students: learned about the preparations for the World Farmers’ Forum scheduled in late May, and talked over the potential to cooperate with its Center for Overseas Rural Studies; listened to the operation of “China’s One-Hundred-Village Observation” research platform; visited the “China Rural Database” grounded on the survey data of a hundred villages; and exchanged views on probable collaborative areas.

The research group also communicated with CCNU Vice President Huang on related poverty alleviation cooperation, and discussed the assumption of further expanding cooperation. It paid a visit to the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press Co., Ltd. and had preliminary discussions over the development of new knowledge products and their application to the international poverty reduction knowledge sharing field.

During the evening hours, Deputy Director General Huang delivered a speech titled “China’s Poverty Alleviation and Development Strategy and Policy System in the New Period” for the faculty and students from the School of Sociology, followed by interactions with students.

Relevant staff from the Information and Communication Division joined this field trip.
