21 December, 2011---With the support and mediation of IPRCC, the Chinese Embassy to Fiji handed over the industrial sewing machines and related accessories donated by Zhejiang GEMSY Group CO., LTD to the Fiji Women’s Federation. Mr. Huang Yong, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, and Dr. Jiko Luveni, Fiji Minister of Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation attended the handover ceremony and signed the Taking Over Certificate.

Following up the visit paid by a delegation headed by IPRCC’s Chairman Liu Jian to Fiji in October 2010, the sewing equipment donated this time will be mainly contributed to the skill training targeted at Fiji’s poor and disabled women. It will help to promote the development of women’s poverty reduction undertaking and improve women’s social well-being. It is also expected to play an important role in promoting China-Fiji exchange and cooperation in poverty reduction.
