Deputy Director of IPRCC Wei Chongjin Head a Delegation to Participate in GDLN Asia Pacific Business Meeting 2010

February 22, 2010---the Asia Pacific Business Meeting 2010 of Global Development Learning Network (GDLN for short) organized by Asian Institute of Management was held in Manila, the capital of Philippines. Mr. Wei Chongjin, Deputy Director of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) led a delegation to participate in the meeting, accompanied by the relevant staff of the Information Department of IPRCC.

GDLN project was initiated by the World Bank in June 2000, with an aim of cooperating with worldwide government organs, enterprises, non-government organizations, academic institutions, etc. through various advanced approaches and methods of distant learning, and further conducting flexible distant education via the Distance Learning Centers (DLC) distributed throughout the world so as to facilitate the resource sharing and expedite the process of global poverty relief.

According to the current development of GDLN, the meeting has displayed typical cases to the attending representatives, introduced the latest technological approaches and the modes for operation and conducted an in-depth discussion on the development trend of GDLN in the future. In the meeting, Mr. Philip Karp, GDLN Asia Pacific Coordinator of the World Bank welcomed the IPRCC’s accession to GDLN, and our delegation introduced IPRCC’s objectives, activities, prospect, etc.   More than 50 representatives from 10 Asian countries including the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, China, etc. and relevant branches of the World Bank attended the meeting.
