2013 Seminar for Officials on Inclusive Growth and Rural Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Asian Countries Opened in Beijing

13 September, 2013 --- The opening ceremony of the 2013 Seminar for Officials on Inclusive Growth and Rural Sustainable Poverty Reduction in Asian Countries, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and organized by IPRCC, was held at Beijing Fraternal Cooperation International Hotel. The ceremony was chaired by IPRCC Assistant Director General Wang Shu. Deputy Director Liu Shuwen of the LGOP Department of International Cooperation and Social Mobilization attended and addressed the ceremony. Mr. Dacosta Ipolito, Director of the Ministry of Agriculture of East Timor delivered a speech on behalf of the participants.

   Themed on “Inclusive Growth and Rural Sustainable Poverty Reduction”, this 15-day seminar consists of two parts: thematic lecture and field trip. Well-known Chinese experts and scholars will be invited to speak on a range of topics, including China’s socioeconomic development, the theoretical connotation and policy practice of inclusive growth, the policy framework and effects of China’s inclusive growth mode, the policy and practice of rural eco-environmental protection in China, the strategy and practice of urban and rural poverty reduction in China, the policy and practice of SME development in China, the science and technology policy and practice in rural China, China’s rural financial policy and practice, the policy and practice of rural development in China, and the policy and practice of urban and rural social security in China. Moreover, the participants will also be taken on a field trip to Hubei Province.    A total of 15 representatives from the related government bodies for rural development and poverty reduction of 8 Asian countries, including Palestine, East Timor, Sri Lanka, Burma, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Laos participated in the seminar.
