Seminar on Formulation and Implementation of Strategical Planning on Rural Development and Poverty Reduction for Developing Countries Closed in Beijing

14 November, 2012 --- The closing ceremony of the Seminar on Formulation and Implementation of Strategical Planning on Rural Development and Poverty Reduction for Developing Countries, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by IPRCC, was held in Fraternal Cooperation International Hotel, Beijing. The 15-day seminar gathered together 19 government officials from government-related organs of the developing countries. IPRCC Assistant Director General Wang Shu addressed the closing ceremony and congratulated on the full success of this seminar, and Mr. Areeb L. M. Kitana delivered a speech on behalf of all participants.

Themed on “Formulation and Implementation of Strategical Planning on Rural Development and Poverty Reduction”, this seminar was intended to introduce the achievements and experience of China’s development-oriented poverty reduction policy to government officials from Asian, African and Latin African countries, promote knowledge sharing in poverty reduction policy and poverty eradication cause among various countries, and advance the poverty reduction process and development of the developing countries. During the seminar, participations carried out field investigations in Nanning and Hechi of Guangxi to learn local development-oriented poverty reduction policies and modes, and visit such poverty reduction projects as rural infrastructure construction, rural industry development, training for rural migrant labor force and relocation.

At the closing ceremony, participants spoke highly of the seminar and indicated that they would apply the precious policies and experience of China in facilitating rural poverty reduction and boosting social development to their home country, and expected further exchanges and cooperation with China in various dimensions.
