Deborah Brautigam, a professor at American University was invited by IPRCC for attending the first Event of China-DAC Study Group on Development Partnerships on 28-29 October, 2009. She has long been focusing on China-Africa Studies. Since early 1980s, she started to observe Chinese aid programmes in Africa. Her new published book, The Dragon’s Gift: the real story of China in Africa introduces China’s involvement in Africa from a different perspective. It demonstrates that how China has adjusted its approach over the decades based on learning from its own history as well as from international experiences.
