I. About IPRCC
The International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), a public institution with full governmental funding directly under the leadership of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP) was jointly initiated and established by the Chinese Government, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other international organizations. IPRCC is designed to conduct studies on poverty-reduction, share the experience of development, promote international exchanges, facilitate the South-South Cooperation with the purpose of making contributions to international poverty alleviation. As an international platform for sharing experiences in poverty reduction and development as well as a channel for the Chinese Government to develop South-South Cooperation, IPRCC provides developing countries and related agencies with the services in the following four aspects. First, conducting research in the sphere of poverty reduction and development, summarizing and refining the experiences in poverty reduction achieved in China and other developing countries; second, providing training for various personnel from a wide range of working fields in the global poverty reduction arena; third, organizing a series of communication activities including meetings, forums and seminars; and fourth, carrying out cooperative poverty reduction programs with other developing countries.
II. Vacancy Announcement
(I) One Researcher
1. Responsibilities
This post requires the candidate to work in the Research Department of IPRCC, with the following specific responsibilities:
1.1 Participating in the formulation of research strategies and annual research plans of the Center; undertaking the tasks of research project development, including project selection, project design and implementation etc.
1.2 Being engaged in the research projects related to poverty measurement, poverty monitoring and assessment.
1.3 Responsible for the research on strategies and policies of poverty relief development as well as social security policy.
1.4 Undertaking research on development aid.
1.5 Participating in organizational management, quality control, programme assessment and exploitation, etc.
1.6 Assist with the establishment and improvement of the Center’s global research network
1.7 Undertaking other related work arranged by the Center.
2. Qualifications and Competencies:
2.1 The candidates should expect to be awarded a Ph.D degree in 2010, major in social security, poverty reduction and development and other related subjects, and concurrently possessing an educational background in economics.
2.2 Be in good health and committed to strong dedication.
2.3 With a CET-6 certificate and proficient in oral and written English.
2.4 With the publishing credentials of over 2 papers in core academic journals.
2.5 Be capable of the econometric analysis; be proficient in programming, analysis and data processing by using Stata software.
2.6 Participating in 2010 annual civil servant examination of the central organizations as well as their direct subsidiaries, with a written examination grade of no less than 105 and an administrative aptitude test score of no less than 55.
2.7 Having research experience in poverty reduction and social security or having participated in the multiple research projects of the country's ministries and commissions as well as the international organizations, such as the World Bank, UNICEF, etc., can be an asset.
2.8 Candidates with more than two years working experience will be preferred.
(II) One Senior French Translator:
As a consecutive and simultaneous interpreter for visits, inspections, trainings between IPRCC and the international organizations and foreign governments as well as for leaders’ visits for foreign affairs and foreign guests' reception, and also as a translator for the review and translation of important internal documents.
1. Qualifications and Competencies:
1.1 Candidates will obtain a Master’s degree in 2010 with TFS 8 and CET 6 or TEM 4 above certificates as well as fluent oral English; candidates capable of other languages are preferred.
1.2 Proficient in interpreting and translating, competent in interpretation for negotiation, accompanied inspection, international conference, etc; candidates shall be quick-minded and articulated.
1.3 With well-maintained appearance and personal manner, healthy, hard-working and adapted to frequent business trips.
1.4 Participating in 2010 annual civil servant examination of the central organizations as well as their direct subsidiaries, candidates with a written examination grade of no less than 105 and an administrative aptitude test score of no less than 55 are preferable.
