Event on Sharing Experience to Promote Learning on Development Partnership for Growth and Poverty Reduction Convened in Beijing

October 28-29, 2009---The event on Sharing Experience to Promote Learning on Development Partnership for Growth and Poverty Reduction co-organized by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC) and the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) was convened in Beijing on Oct. 28-29, 2009.

It is important  to conduct international exchanges and cooperation in poverty reduction and development so that developing countries can accelerate the pace of poverty reduction. In order to further the exchanges and cooperation between China and African countries in this regard and strengthen the capacity of the two sides to cope with the challenges of global development, the DAC and IPRCC co-established China-DAC Study Group, focusing on the two themes of "China\'s experience of growth and poverty reduction, including the contribution of international assistance, and its relevance for other developing countries particularly in Africa" and "China's economic co operation in Africa and its impact on poverty reduction". Each theme will be explored during a series of events on development partnerships; agriculture, food security and rural development; infrastructure; and the enabling environment for enterprise development.

The event focuses on the first theme of development partnerships. It aims to explore China's strategy, mode, effectiveness and experience in growth and poverty reduction since the reform and opening up; explore the process, strategy, mode and experience of China's development cooperation with the international community; explore the enlightenment of China's growth, poverty reduction and international cooperation in development to African countries; and explore the train of thought and approach of improving international development cooperation framework.

The event lasted  two days, with over 100 participants from China, Africa, OECD member countries and other international organizations.
