10.17 Poverty Reduction and Development Forum Thesis and Case Solicitation Announcement

Since the global financial crisis in 2008, some common problems have arisen in most countries and regions, such as the decline in exports, increase in unemployment, and insufficient domestic demand. In addition, owing to the resource constraint and the impact of climate change, the process of human beings’ shaking off poverty and achieving MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) is confronted with tremendous challenges. In order to cope with these issues arising in the process of development, the Chinese Government proposes to speed up the transformation of economic development mode and emphasizes scientific development, aiming at making the economic growth more sustainable, more environmental-friendly and more beneficial to the poor. Other developing countries under the same impact of financial crisis, resource constraint and climate change are also facing with the issue of development mode transformation.

Therefore, themed on “development mode transformation and poverty reduction”, the 10.17 Poverty Reduction and Development Forum this year aims to study the impact of development mode transformation on poverty reduction, including the affected areas, extent of impact and impact mechanism, and to propose the countermeasures. Now, we hereby open a call for papers (CFP) in an effort to fully solicit opinions from all walks of life on this theme and enrich the contents of the 10.17 Forum. Outstanding theses will be included into the Background Memoir of the Forum and part of the authors will be invited to attend the Forum. Specific issues concerning this CFP are as follows:
