21 - 25 April, 2014 --- In order to further promote the poverty reduction exchanges and cooperation between China and other Asian countries, IPRCC received a Bangladeshi delegation led by M A Quader Sarker, Secretary of Rural Development & Cooperative Division, Ministry of Local Government of Bangladesh.

During their stay in Beijing, the delegation visited the LGOP, IPRCC, China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and Foreign Capital Project Management Center of LGOP. Liu Shuwen, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Social Mobilization Department of LGOP met with the delegation and briefed them on the framework of China’s poverty reduction and development institutions, development history, main experience, challenges and current priorities.

IPRCC Director General Zuo Changsheng introduced IPRCC’s development history and main businesses, and reviewed the communication and cooperation between IPRCC and Bangladesh, including inviting Professor Muhammad Yunus to serve as IPRCC’s Senior Advisor and Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed from BRAC as its Chief Technical Adviser. He also expected to further their cooperation and explore more modes for poverty reduction exchanges and cooperation in the future.

From April 23 to 25, the delegation paid a visit to Yongning District, Nanning City of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for inspecting the planting demonstration base for industrialization-based poverty alleviation and other poverty reduction programmes, and had a discussion with officials of Yunnan Provincial Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development and Foreign Capital Project Management Center.

Secretary M A Quader Sarker said that it was really a rewarding visit as China has achieved remarkable achievements in poverty reduction and accumulated substantial valuable experience. He looked forward to increasing their contacts and expanding cooperation and exchanges in poverty reduction and other relevant areas.

Relevant staff of IPRCC’s Cooperation Division and Bangladeshi Embassy in China accompanied the delegation during their inspection tour.
