30 August, 2013 --- IPRCC Head Zuo Changsheng met with Mr. Cheikh M. Sourang, Senior Program Manager of IFAD Knowledge Management Division. The two sides exchanged opinions on the goals and missions of the two organizations and discussed potential areas for future cooperation.

Mr. Sourang introduced three major activities he now coordinates at IFAD: experience extension, South-South cooperation, and drafting of country-specific strategy papers. He said IFAD highly values the efficiency and influence of its programs, and its cooperation with China has gradually shifted from loan-driven poverty reduction to provision of support for South-South cooperation between China and other developing countries. Given that factor, IFAD regards IPRCC as an important partner.

Director General Zuo Changsheng briefed the visitors on the background of IPRCC and its major activities. He also showed his support for both organizations to strengthen communication, participate in the activities of each other, and conduct cooperation through mutual advantage complementarity.

Both sides agreed that the key of future cooperation lies in strengthening poverty reduction knowledge sharing, promoting institutional network sharing and spurring trilateral South-South cooperation. Recently, the two sides will also push forward the design of a new cooperation program.

Director Sun Yinhong and Program Officer Liu Ke of IFAD Beijing Office, together with the relevant staff of the Exchange Division, Research Division, Training Division and Cooperation Division of IPRCC, attended the meeting.
