Tan Weiping Led a Delegation to the Sixth Meeting of the China-Mexico Permanent Binational Commission

29 September, 2014 --- The sixth meeting of the China-Mexico Permanent Binational Commission was held in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. On behalf of LGOP, Deputy Director Tan Weiping led a delegation to the meeting and talked with representatives of Mexico Social Development Department. He also gave a special lecture entitled “The Progress and Historical Experience of China’s Poverty Reduction and Development” in the Social Development session.

The two sides reviewed and assessed the development of bilateral cooperation in poverty reduction and social development, and agreed that the cooperation on social development has been developing smoothly under the common efforts of both sides, and will maintain a good momentum of development in the future. We are both developing countries which share the responsibility of poverty reduction and development, and thus there is huge potential in our cooperation in these areas. The two sides reiterated that they will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation on social development, hunger elimination, poverty reduction, social welfare and social relief to contribute to the common development and prosperity of the world. Both sides are willing to further tap potential of cooperation in the relevant areas, constantly push forward social development cooperation on the principle of “complementary advantages, resource sharing, mutual benefit and reciprocity”.

At the end of the conference, both sides reached a consensus on the conference minutes, and incorporated it into the Minutes of the Sixth Meeting of the China-Mexico Permanent Binational Commission, which is signed by the two Foreign Ministries as a formal document.
